What to Pray Through a Setback

“Then he explained to me, ‘This is what the LORD states to Zerubbabel: It is not by pressure nor by power, but by my Spirit, claims the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.” – Zechariah 4:6 NLT

The garage door slowly rose. I pulled in, put the motor vehicle in park, and shut the engine off. Sitting, staring, and sobbing … Soon after a string of great days, the past twelve hrs felt like square 1. I put myself on auto manner, walked into the home, put my coffee on the counter, and stared at a chair. It seemed to pull me in for a excellent cry, and I listened. Loud, sad, cries of despair, as I fought to grip the hope of ahead development I had felt in the past couple times. These cries mentioned better than any term count could.

Setbacks are really hard. Setbacks snap us out of relief and back again into battle or flight. A setback can threaten our considered lifetime to imagine the development was a mirage. Setbacks make it feel like God isn’t listening, isn’t there, or doesn’t care. The verse from Zechariah reminds us of our weaknesses…and God’s strength. Setbacks are challenging. But they are not long lasting. Jesus is in it with us, compassionate towards our pain. For individuals enduring a setback today…

Let’s pray:
Father,
Today, we feel trapped …setback …and discouraged. We arrive to You, potentially without the need of words at all, to describe our desperate need to have for You. God, You are trustworthy, entire of mercy and compassionate towards us. When we hurt, we do so together with a Savior who understands how we really feel and is sympathetic to our ache. Oh, God, thank You for the friend we have in Jesus. We are a mess right now, Father. Yet, You see us as the gorgeous generation You knit inside our mother’s womb, with a unique function and special items. The great Father, You are there for us in each and every way. Provider, Healer, and Defender, You appreciate us fiercely. You are jealous for us!

God, however setbacks aren’t enjoyable, we know You will pull us through them. Even while this just one feels like it may choose us out, we place our confidence in You. We pick out to sit at Your ft and cry out in desperation, to the only A single who perfectly and completely understands our souls and cares for our hearts. Father, repentance is tough. Harm is hard. Suffering which happens to us, and ache that we lump upon ourselves …is tough. Make sure you soften our stubborn hearts as we sit and weep at Your ft, desperate for course and hurting for encouragement. Assistance us to hear You, try to remember who You are, and Whose we are. 

Father, spot Your phrase in our hearts and compose it on our minds. For Your phrase is alive and impressive. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting amongst soul and spirit, amongst joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and wants. (Hebrews 4:12 NLT) You know us, fully. Raise our spirits and restore our hope, God, to see this setback for what it is …temporary. Assist us to confidently belief You, and cling to the Hope we have in Christ Jesus. You promised us a hard journey on earth, but You also promised a total lifestyle. Complete of pleasure, peace, contentment, forgiveness, and appreciate. Enable us to embrace You as You convey us again to the put of progress.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
