A Prayer for Self-confident Hope in the Storms of Existence

“Therefore, do not throw away your self-assurance, which has a terrific reward.” – Hebrews 10:35, ESV.

Some films have me sitting down on the edge of my seat the overall time. I delight in the common movie arc of story placing, mounting action, climax, and resolution. Hallmark videos are identified for their regular storyline, and we can be guaranteed a content ending. If only our lives were that uncomplicated. We can truly feel frozen in place, worried of the potential, and terrified of the present. There are times when it appears to be we’re in a storm at sea without the need of any way to navigate our way out of it. Driving it out is the only way via. The Apostle Paul survived storms and shipwrecks and did not drop his way even while it took a few ships to get him from Caesarea to Rome. In these days sailors used the stars for direction, but on this journey by ship, a fierce storm blew up. The strong gale pressure winds compelled them to use solid ropes to tie the ship alongside one another. Darkish clouds coated the sunlight, moon, and stars for fourteen times. They threw absent their cargo, which is like heading to the financial institution to withdraw a substantial sum of income, ripping it up, and throwing it into the wind. The sailors did every little thing they could imagine of to survive but shed hope.

Storms of daily life normally bring about our hearts to quake with fear and disappointment. At times we see them on the horizon and other moments they strike instantly. These storms may well be social, fiscal, physical, psychological, or religious. They area wonderful strain on us, and we typically query our religion. But faith in God is the only matter that helps a believer in the course of fantastic problems. The Apostle Paul is a fantastic example for us. He faced imprisonment, shipwrecks, loss of life threats, poverty, and wonderful psychological distress. Nevertheless, he had immense faith and realized with assurance God would give rescue. God is with us. He doesn’t leave us to flounder. He can make a way achievable when we encounter unachievable conditions. At situations, he calms the storms, and other occasions, he calms us.

There was a time when I plunged into a deep year of sadness the place daily life introduced no joy, and almost everything seemed dim. I struggled with disappointment above the way God answered a prayer. My expectations of his claims did not match what I professional. I anticipated God to line up with my wishes and when he did not, I tumbled into a thorn bush of anger, cynicism, and question. The storm raged inward when I struggled in the darkness. The storyline of my lifetime did not match the typical pleased ending of my favourite motion pictures. In this storm, I did the only thing I could feel of—I browse God’s term, but when I shut my Bible, I forgot what I examine. So, I wrote Scripture verses on playing cards and tacked them up around my home. I knew the only way to navigate this interior storm was to repair my eyes on the Term of God due to the fact I could not have confidence in my emotions to information me. My thoughts have been like the storm raging throughout the sea of the ship Paul observed himself on.

Like Paul in Acts 27:25, we can say, “Keep up your courage. . .for I have faith in God.” Our self-confident hope is observed in a religion planted deep in realizing God. To know him is to have confidence in his promises stand even when our anticipations are unsuccessful. We can hold on to confident hope in the storms of daily life when we plant our self-confidence in who he is. He is our Bread of Everyday living, Living Water, and the Great I Am. He is our anchor in the storm, our waymaker, and our shepherd. We can stand the storms of daily life if we do not toss absent our assurance in him.

Let us pray:
Holy God,

Thank you for being with me. You are fantastic and mighty, full of compassion. You see me in my harm. I’m sorry for doubting your goodness to me in the center of my storm. You should forgive me for turning absent from hope in you simply because I just cannot see you. Now, I select to maintain onto assured hope in you due to the fact you guarantee to in no way leave me or forsake me. I’m likely to believe that and dwell like it’s true. I belief you to guideline me as a result of this storm and fill me with hope. In Jesus’ name, Amen
