A Prayer for the Moms and dads of Littles

“Behold, kids are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the young children of one’s youth. How joyful is the gentleman whose quiver is total of them! He will not be place to disgrace when he confronts his accusers at the city gates.” – Psalm 127:3-5, ESV 

It took for a longer time than we anticipated to grow our family members. In our desperation, we achieved out to godly close friends and questioned if they would pray for us. I however recall the evening a family members buddy prayed Psalm 127:3-5 more than me and my husband. And the Lord answered by providing us a few kids in the three several years that followed. Out of the blue, I was both equally shocked at God’s provision and overwhelmed by these three little rewards from God! 

If you have minor little ones, do you uncover it quick to relate to the subsequent?

• You cannot split your gaze from their beautiful minimal faces but also very anticipate their following lengthy extend of snooze. 
• You defend them with vigilance while also longing for a date night time absent with your spouse.
• You are so grateful the Lord has entrusted you to be their guardian, but you also overlook flexibility-loaded days when particular space was sufficient, and free of charge time was loads.

If you are anything like me, you almost certainly truly feel guilty above all your conflicting thoughts when it comes to your young children. To this, I give two truths in hopes of comforting you in this season of stewarding little impression-bearers. The to start with speaks to dad and mom in the toddler phase. Recall, this is only a season, and it will eventually modify. I am not suggesting it will get a lot easier, but every stage will existing exclusive problems and positive aspects. Next, your children will hardly ever satisfy you as God does–children are very poor substitutes for God’s appreciate. I never provide this nugget to condemn you, but to give you authorization and space to feel less than tremendous joyful in all the tough times of fussiness, sleepless nights, or continual diaper duty. True pleasure is identified in Christ by yourself, so it makes sense that each individual second with your small children is not pure bliss. 

We can be kind to ourselves when we feel restless in the minor a long time. Our struggles don’t negate God’s Word. Our conflicting thoughts in parenting our littles only provide to illuminate the real truth. This is a person way our small children are a blessing since they thrust us to rely on God far more and additional. Our youngsters will both equally make us rejoice in the maximum of highs, and worship by way of tears in the really hard moments. Simply because of this, we can thank God for the heritage He has given us in our children. 

Let us pray:
God, 
We thank you for the present of little ones. They are a miracle from you, and we accept and praise you for that! Lord, we thank you for entrusting us with the fantastic honor of increasing a new era of individuals who will really like and serve you. But Lord, you know how difficult these minor many years are. You see us drowning in the to-do list and you know when we truly feel responsible for not currently being extra thankful for all our a lot of blessings. But you even now love us, and you love our young children. 

Thank you for how our like for these kids offers us a tiny, while an imperfect, glimpse of your like towards us. And thank you that our disappointment, discontentment, and absence of fulfillment in parenting generate us back to you–our real resource of joy! Lord, thank you that you use our brokenness and imperfections in parenting for our good and your glory! You use it all, and we praise you for that. Thank you for each the noticed and unseen approaches our children are a blessing and heritage from you! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
